Pont des Arts

Built between 1802 and 1804, the Pont des Arts was the first metal bridge in Paris, initially conceived as a link between the Louvre and the Institut de France. Its wooden deck now invites pedestrians to stroll above the Seine, offering views of the Institut's domed roof and shimmering reflections of the river. Early mornings or late evenings suit those who prefer the bridge lightly peopled, especially when so many follow the path left by lost padlocks.
