About Sesriem
Sesriem is the gateway to Sossusvlei National Park, a small settlement that serves as a base for adventurers heading into some of the tallest sand dunes in the world. The relentless Namib Desert has shaped the town, which is mostly a few lodges and a petrol station rather than a urban landscape. Visitors flock here primarily for the unmatched views of the red dunes and the surreal Dead Vlei, where ancient trees stand in stark contrast against the backdrop of shifting sands. The lack of any real urban infrastructure means that almost everything revolves around those iconic dunes, and if you’re not into sand, you might find it all a bit too... sandy.
