Built in 1865 by Prince Abdulrahman ibn Sulaiman ibn Dabaan, Al Masmak Fortress in Riyadh was the site where Ibn Saud launched his 1902 campaign to recapture the city. The fortress's mud-brick architecture includes a wooden gate with a visible spearhead mark from the battle.
