The Bizkaia Bridge, completed in 1893, is the world's oldest transporter bridge and a nod to industrial ingenuity, designed by Alberto Palacio, a collaborator of Gustave Eiffel. Its suspended gondola still ferries passengers across the Nervion River connecting the towns of Portugalete and Las Arenas.
