In the seven days before Easter, Antigua's streets are laid with alfombras of dyed sawdust, leaves and flowers that survive a few hours before a procession walks straight over them. The andas reach 80 feet long and weigh close to a tonne, carried by up to 100 purple-robed cucuruchos.
